Well, duh.

Lost couple can’t blame GPS.

Any computer, no matter how sophisticated, is only as reliable as the person operating it. Don’t be an idiot.

There’s an irritating article over at PC World about making GPS devices “safer” for users:

GPS technology is a wonderful thing, but it is only as good as the humans using it and who design the systems. The usual choices, “fastest route,” “shortest route,” and “avoid freeways” need to be tweaked to help users stay out of harm’s way when traveling in potentially dangerous areas.

Um, no. These gaffes are not the fault of the GPS device or its manufacturer – they are the fault of people who make stupid assumptions, fail to educate themselves, and go into the world unprepared. Tacking on annoying features won’t stop stupid people from being stupid.

  1. I am in agreement. I read this story and thought the same thing. It’s human error for FULLY trusting technology and not preparing yourself!
