PINE RIVER BURNT SHANTY BAY CACHE

That’s the name of a neat geocache we found near Bonnechere Provincial Park (yes, the name of the cache is in caps like that). To get to the cache, we had to drive down an old logging road.

You can always count on good times ahead when you see signs like this.

We also drove over this nifty little bridge. The geocache was hidden close to the footing of another bridge, now long gone.

One of the reasons I fell in love with geocaching is that it puts me in touch with all the personal mythologies of my childhood. I think I feel the most “myself” when I’m in places like the one pictured above.
