Quick update – with pictures!

I just wrote a big post which was somehow EATEN by the internet. Anyway, here is a slideshow of pics from Gettysburg and Williamsburg (well, near it). We didn’t actually go to Colonial Williamsburg because it was going to cost a gazillion dollars, we had a long way to drive (we’re in Charlotte, NC now) and I preferred to see the ocean and some old plantation houses along the James River (cheaper and more in keeping with the theme of the trip).

There’s information about Sherwood Forest at this site. It was the home of President John Tyler and currently home to his grandson.

Here’s the site for Berkeley Plantation, birthplace of President William Henry Harrison, birthplace of Benjamin Harrison (a signer of the Declaration of Independence), and the site of the first Thanksgiving.

There were several other plantations along the route, but we didn’t have a lot of time to stop. We’ll be seeing more plantation houses at a more leisurely pace once we’re in Georgia.

Time to sleep – driving to Atlanta when we get up!
